How is the Structure Supported?

What I always find fascinating is a visual image of a building or structure, when it is not clear how it is supported!

It creates an uneasy feeling of how is it possible?

Architects can create this imbalance intentionally.

The structure shown, has its design origin in Dutch Architecture.

The Dutch have been masters in building large dam systems to block the North Sea from flooding the low lands.

This visualization of power, and imbalance against a furious enemy, is the essence of the bold architecture in this building located in North York, being part of Toronto, Canada.

The cantilevering of  a thick 2 feet roof concrete slab upholds the 8″ thick precast concrete panels, pigmented, and sandblasted to provide the feel of limestone.

Go ahead walk under the structure
with confidence…
