This building is located on Shizuoka, Japan and completed around 2012. They designed this house for a married couple with 3 children and because most Japanese people prefer minimalistic living style.

The exterior designed as a black cube and completely making the interior not visible from outside and give the impression of a building for hiding. But even the interior will have enough sunlight radiating through the window on the ceiling. You will notice that the interior using plywood with warm color on the moment you enter the building.

Ma style minimalistic Japanese ant house architects make many ambiguous space without making a partition so the space can be freely used. Even one of the space can be either room or even a corridor. And even if its looks small, with less partition and minimalistic furniture make the place looks more spacious.

Their concept is “In the cube which was covered by a black wall the free world becomes larger like an ant’s nest”, to express that even a small space will look bigger with a simple and minimalistic interior. The residence even deliberately only using minimal amount of the furniture to keep making the house feel more spacious.
